Number of the sectors or zones with restrictions for the extraction of groundwater declared by the Directorate-General Water (DGA). The declaration of a restricted zone is a mechanism by which the Directorate-General Water protects the sustainability of an aquifer. This declaration, unlike the area of restriction, occurs when the availability of the water resource is totally compromised, either definitively or provisionally, so that it is not possible to grant new rights of extraction.
