Rural population under the system of Rural Drinking Water, which includes the services provided in territorial areas qualified as rural or agricultural in accordance with the respective territorial planning instruments (Regulatory Plan). These systems are created and constituted as a particular service in the form of a committee or cooperative or other legal figure agreed upon by the interested parties. They obtain operating permits from the Ministry of Health through its Environmental Health Services. The legal and regulatory standards of the public health services provided by the concessionaires within their respective concession lands are not applicable to them. However, rural systems must comply with service quality standards (Title III, D.F.L. MOP No. 382/88) and the respective technical standards (Source: Superintendency of Sanitation Services).
