Abstract
AbstractTotal number of landings of hydrobiological resources that are derived from industrial fishing activity. Industrial fishing is defined as extractive activity carried out by vessels with a length of more than 18 meters and with technologically advanced fishing systems, such as trawl, longline, and purse seine, that enable the massive capture of a wide variety of fishing resources. It is important to note that this variable includes factory vessels operating in national waters. This activity is carried out in jurisdictional waters outside the exclusive reserve area for artisanal fishing (i.e., the first 5 maritime miles measured from the coastline or the inland waters of the national maritime territory). The average landing unit is expressed in metric tons. (Source: National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service).
