Microentrepreneurs: Employed persons as employers or own-account workers who own a microenterprise (economic unit of up to 10 workers, including the owner).
All sectors of economic activity used in the Classifier CIIU4.cl 2012 according to CAENES are included. The branches of public administration and extraterritorial organizations have been excluded because, by their nature, they contain no microentrepreneurs.

In the last publication of tabulations (September 2019), commerce was regrouped from the secondary to the tertiary sector, previously this category had been grouped with the secondary sector to improve the precision of the estimation.

The indicator is a reclassification of the variable "d20_CAENES" grouping the categories in three Sectors: Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. The detail of this reclassification was as follows: 1) Primary Sector: Includes the branches of Agriculture, Forestry; Fishing and of Mining and Quarrying and Water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities. 2) Secondary sector: Includes the branches of Manufacturing; Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply and Construction. 3) Tertiary sector: Includes Commerce; transportation and storage; accommodation and food service activities; information and communications; financial and insurance activities; real estate activities; professional, scientific, and technical activities; administrative and support service activities; public administration and defense; compulsory social security schemes; education; human health care and social work activities; arts, entertainment, and recreation activities; other service activities; activities of households as employers; activities not differentiated from households as producers of goods and services for their own use; and activities of extra-territorial organizations and bodies.
